Watkins College of Art and Design


Faculty Show...

Our faculty show is opening at Watkins on September 4, 5:30-8pm.
The show runs from September 4- September 27.
It should be a great show so check it out if you have time or are in town.

I'm involved in a show of Southern graduate work right now at the Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design, University of Georgia.
Its a great show with some really fantastic photographers involved.
The opening is at UofG on September 3, 5-7pm.

“Boy’s Life,” a group exhibition concerning the ephemeral, transitional point in a boy’s development when he begins to deal with the realization that he is separate and male, destined for attributes of strength, aggression, courage and virility.  Works included by: Peter Bahouth, Steve Bliss, Shannon Clark, Corey Daniels, Emily Gomez, Ryan Pfluger. Exhibition formats range from 8” x 10” view camera silver gelatin prints to View Master stereopticons of editorialized 1950’s family images of American boys to cyanotypes of late 19th century – early 20th century males and tableaux of key transitional moments.

Stephen Berkman

I came across the photographer/artist Stephen Berkman. I think his work is fantastic... particularly the installation pieces but the ambrotypes are great too. I typically shy away from a lot of alternative process work as it tends to ride on the gimmick of the process way too much. Berkman's work definitely does not.
